World’s Biggest Victim

President Jacob Zuma has a serious problem, generally known as victim mentality. He has come to realise that this kind of behaviour, comes with sympathy and people in the process of sympathising with the victim, always support and cheer the one who seems like the under dog.

It is said his father passed away while he was very young, I am certain we all know someone who lost a parent and even both in some instances. President Zuma should stop using this to blackmail us when he is expected to be accountable.

Many other successful people made it in life without having progressed much at school, and I am sure you are aware of many more who have contributed immensely in research and the development of life as we know it today. President Zuma should stop using this to blackmail us when he is expected to be accountable.

His victim mentality was seen as a uniting force within the ANC, but that time has passed. His victim mentality has won him many supporters and even today, his victim mentality continues to play with peoples emotions believing to protect the ANC yet they unknowingly continue to sympathise with an individual who does not want to be responsible but cry foul that things are happening to him because he comes from rural kzn, poor family, raised by a single parent and had to dropout from school at a young age.

This victim mentality got us supporting him when criminal charges were were laid against him, when Khwezi said he raped her, when he impregnated his friends daughter, when he lied about a bond to improve his family home and lately when he claimed to have fired the minister of finance and his deputy based on a bogus intelligence report. Still after all this, President Zuma never did anything, he was the victim who found himself at the right place in the wrong time or vice versa.

South Africa’s biggest victim should be protected, should never be called to order and should never be held accountable, after all he is either framed or other people acted inappropriately but never has the victim ever did anything not even inhaled.

1993 : Mngadi Section

Growing up at Mngadi Section – Katlehong – Ekurhuleni/Eastrand. The days that followed the 10th April 1993 were challenging not only to those who were politically active but to the rest of the neighborhood.

The build up to the funeral services at FNB stadium was more interesting as there was talk that the IFP would be compiling a list of people who were going to attend the funeral service.

After the funeral, IFP members from Kwesine male hostel attacked the communities of Shirley, Mngadi, Radebe and surrounding sections. Those who had cars managed to run away and those who couldn’t were killed. Houses were burnt down.

My parents managed to take few clothes and by the grace of God, all family members made it to a place of safety. Since then my parents have never managed to give us a life that we were used to.

Since then, family life changed. I had to move to Limpopo and stay with my grandparents. I guess everything came as a shock, even my parents relationship was broken.

I am aware of few kids I grew up with, currently they are orphans. Their parents were killed because one parent or botg went to attend the Chris Hani funeral service.

Not only the Hani, SACP, MK or ANC lost in 1993, many other people lost differently.

The ANC is failing to understand that this dates way back before 31 March 2016… this dates back to the days of FNB homeloan awarded to the Zuma family or during 2012 when business man Vivian Reddy confirmed loaning Zuma money used to upgrade Nkandla.

This is beyond Zuma’s awareness of any wrong doing, it is beyond any appology. It is actually worth far more than any amount that treasury can workout and ask or instruct Zuma to payback.

This is more destructing than the loud chants by EFF members, those loud chants we have come to accept and loosely include in our daily sayings. Those words which have been made to mean something only when they are on a bumper sticker or have a hashtag sign and written grammatically incorrect.

Finally, the days of #PayBackTheMoney are over, maybe we will see more active citizens and less creative phrases. Maybe then the ANC will realise the third force was never foreign, but only a missed opportunity to win our hearts.

An opportunity to protect our Constitution with their buttocks has presented itself. Prove to us that they still want our votes.

What is in a name?

What good is it, renaming a place or thing in order to preserve the people’s history?
A number of the student houses at “Turfloop” University of the North have been named after African leaders who were once students there and played an active role in fighting apartheid.

It was the first time I came across most of those name and at times, my search of our history is informed by those names. Names that once referred to great thinkers, courageous people, selfless individuals and people like us. Those names today are used to identify a wooden shelter meant for students somewhere in a remote area.

I believe the least we could do is elevate this names, use them to refer to main streets in our communities. Refer to important state buildings, make sure that more people know about this names. Maybe more people would be informed by these names in their search of our history.

Just in case you were wondering, some of the student shelters are named after Tiro, Moshobane and many others.

16 JUNE – I See you in School Uniform

16 June 2014, I see you in school uniform,
Is this all with good intentions
Or are you just caught up and trying to fit in.
Trying not to be seen as a misfit
A chance to flaunt which model-C school you went to.
Most of all are you doing it to honor some of the fallen heroes
Those who fought against apartheid domination through education.

Today we proudly wear school uniform,
Proudly carry cooler-boxes filled to the brim.
Holding expensive imported spirit drinks.
Come tomorrow, all of this will be forgotten.
A splitting headache will cut my sleep short.

No one can enforce or dictate how we should celebrate the past and its achievements.
But in honor of those we mention in this celebration.
And most whose names we have come to forget
The countless activists whose names are never mentioned.
I hope we could actively take the fight forward
Unlike use this day as another excuse for social meetings.
Just another holiday in a year,
Just another opportunity to indulge in alcohol until the early hours.

June 16, Next time I see you in school uniform
We will proudly celebrate the stolen lives
Some of us will have completed our matric
Having completed a couple of short courses
Most will be graduates from universities all around the world
This would prove the uprising was not in vain.
But that the youth of 1976 fought for better education
Fought for us to attend any school
Fought for us to be taught in any language
Fought for us to be progressive

I have been watching the Marley Africa Road Trip over the past few weeks, that inspired me to search and find out besides their fathers legacy. How do the Marley brothers make money and what other projects are they involved in.

The Relationship between Salary, Productivity and Skills

After petrol attendants and car repair workers decided to strike, demanding a salary increase. @avemaseti twitted “Is it me who sees why people can’t be earning R4000pm? #PetrolAttendantStrike”. @sizwedlhomo replied “bleeding heart aside, explain to me why a petrol attendant should earn more than R4k a month” and this is where most of us decided to use our 140 characters worth comments or less.

To me it looked more like Sizwe was looking at the whole thing as an employer while the rest of us were looking at it as employees, but everyone’s points made sense and highlighted we still have a long way before we can say we leave in a developed country where its citizens have the knowledge and understanding that competition is healthy in order for one to strive and reinvent themselves as often as possible in order to remain relevant and a commodity in the working environment.

As the working class, we still struggle to understand the relationship between pay, productivity and skills and this is due to the fact that most of us are still stuck in pre ’94 with regards to knowledge, education and socially. Partly I blame the unions for the tradition of collective bargaining without the encouragement of individual or group productivity and performance, and the fact that pay and pay increase is always influenced by negotiating strength of either parties based on the cost of living in the country. I am against standardization of remuneration even though it has its benefits, largely for employers since it reduces competition based on labour cost and guaranteed retention of good staff *none-highly educated staff*.

I believe it is time for a new way of doing things and still allow unions to be relevant. Unions should start educating their members about soft and hard skills required within their respective industries. This would be a step towards progressing from low paying jobs to highly skilled pay systems which would encourage, recognise and incentivise the acquiring of relevant knowledge and skills. Employers would then seek ways to introduce a performance criteria into pay increases, both parties would then be able to negotiate part of pay increase on common ground. Workers would be paid based on their performance, rather than only the value of the job. Provided employers do not use performance based pay purely as a cost reduction strategy.

I struggle to understand the logic behind union members who continue to pay their membership without fail but every year when it comes to salary negotiations, the one body that is suppose to safe guard their employment interests always sees it necessary to call its members to assist put pressure to guarantee an increase or those who believe that unions will protect their positions.
For one, yesterday’s tweets have reinforced the fact that Knowledge and skills provide employees with a measure of protection against unemployment, as well as opportunities for higher earnings

To my fellow better paying job seekers, the only weapon we have in order to put a dent on cheap labour and exploitation is to aim at adding value to a particular resource or have an advantage in comparison to other job seekers.
